Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is an infection of the female reproductive organs, including the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, and surrounding pelvic tissues. It is often caused by sexually transmitted infections (STls) like chlamydia or gonorrhea that ascend from the vagina and cervix to the upper reproductive tract.
